Vote For Us! Wellbeing for All Participatory Budgeting Fund

Vote For Us!

Here at East Ayrshire Recovery Hub we’re truly humbled to have been put forward to the public vote for the Wellbeing for All Participatory Budgeting Fund administered by East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership. The fund supports groups and organisations to deliver local well-being projects that matter most to communities in East Ayrshire.

The Hub has not one but three projects through to the final vote along with our partners at EACHa as well as Harbour (Ayrshire) who facilitate groups in the hub.

You can vote for 5 projects here – https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WfAVoting2023/

Details of our own projects along with those from our partner organisations can be found below –

East Ayrshire Recovery Hub – Survivors

Amount requested: £1,000

East Ayrshire Recovery Hub ‘Survivors’ is a new innovative project, supporting individuals with drug and alcohol issues. Providing hope, connection, and identity by linking individuals with recovery support training and development within the local community providing clear pathways to progress, empowering individuals to lead a healthy and meaningful life.

The funding would be used to cover the expenses of establishing a new project to support women, who are suffering the devastating effects of alcohol and drug addiction along with interrelated issues it so often entails. This group would have the ability to be up scaled to meet the growing demand which we have forecast in consultations to be significant.

New Heights

Amount requested: £5,000

Inspiring recovery through health fitness and wellbeing. At new heights we believe everyone can find the confidence and support needed to aid their recovery. Recovery Rocks Music Group

Amount requested: £2,500

We are a group that runs twice a week in the East Ayrshire Recovery Hub for those tackling addiction and substance abuse. The group provides support but also a way for people to enjoy their recovery by participating in music and socialising with others. Those who come to the group always leave feeling uplifted and its very rewarding to see people progress and build their confidence back that addiction took from them.

In the past year the group has played at several events as making recovery visible is really important to us as well as being a part of the community. This group has been going from strength to strength and any funding we get would help massively with music equipment and other opportunities.

Our aim is to alleviate poverty and associated stigma and by practical means to prevent or reduce the risk of homelessness We do this by our thrice weekly one-stop drop in, and our friendly Fresh Start project. All of our work aims to promote wellbeing, address mental and physical health and provide the basic means to prevent homelessness. Each Person Matters.

Our project provides a pack of essential household goods to an individual or family moving from temporary furnished accommodation to a tenancy. Packs can include cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, cleaning pack, hygiene pack or food parcel, towels, bedding. Many of those we support have no savings or means to obtain the items, and all are living in poverty.

Harbour Ayrshire – East Ayrshire Family Support Group

Amount requested: £5,000

Harbour Ayrshire operate across Ayrshire helping the most vulnerable in our communities who are affected by drug and alcohol addiction. Within East Ayrshire we operate a Men’s group, Ladies group and Family group from the East Ayrshire Recovery Hub.

Our project aims to support the families of those most affected by drug and alcohol addiction, providing vital support to partners, children and extended family members who in most cases have their lives significantly impacted and turned upside down by their loved one’s issues. The support offered helps the family members themselves to improve their lives, re-establish relationships with loved one’s where lost and also help them better understand loved one’s needs. We have trialled the family support service over the past few months and this funding would help secure and continue this lifeline over the course of the next year, as it is the only service of it’s kind in Ayrshire.
