This is the inspiring journey of a young man who came to EACH Recovery Matters in search of support to overcome substance use challenges. He was committed to change, attending our recovery sessions consistently, and connecting with others on similar journeys. His dedication to recovery soon led him to join our New Heights project, which focuses on providing physical and mental challenges as pathways for growth.

During his time in New Heights, he was introduced to Above Adventure, a community climbing charity. The excitement and sense of accomplishment he experienced while climbing became a turning point in his recovery. Climbing not only offered a positive outlet for his energy and focus but also fostered resilience, self-confidence, and a newfound purpose. His passion quickly grew, and he found himself fully immersed in the sport, regularly returning to challenge himself on new routes.

His progress didn’t go unnoticed. He soon began volunteering with Above Adventure, dedicating his time and energy to helping others discover the power of climbing. This commitment opened the door to new opportunities, and eventually, he secured a position as a modern apprentice with the organisation. In this role, he has not only learned valuable work skills but has continued to thrive and grow personally. He now plays a key part in supporting others, drawing from his own experiences to encourage others on their recovery journeys.

Today, he flourishes as a valued member of the Above Adventure team, embodying resilience, perseverance, and the possibility of transformation. His journey exemplifies how involvement in community projects, like New Heights, can be a catalyst for both personal growth and sustainable recovery.
